Welcome to the Pucking Opinion 2013 Mid-Season Mock Draft from Pucking Mike.

This is the mid-season Mock Draft. At the end of the season, or lack thereof, we will be doing two mock drafts, just like we did to kick the site off to see who hits more picks. Players get hurt, decline and drop in the rankings as the season goes on, so that’s why we will be doing another two. Our rankings change just like everyone else’s.

The order and outcome of the picks is based off the increasing chance that the NHL season will be cancelled and the 2013 Entry Draft order will be decided in a different manner than usual. Picks were generally based around team needs as well as rankings.

To get the order of the draft we used the same method the NHL used back in the 2004-2005 lockout, we went back 4 seasons in playoffs and in the draft. If a team did not make the playoffs or did not had a first overall pick in these years they had a 6.3% of winning the first overall pick.  There were four teams that met the criteria, the Dallas Stars, Toronto Maple Leafs, Winnipeg Jets and Minnesota Wild. There were 12 Teams had a 4.2% chance of winning the first overall pick and the remaining 14 teams had a 2.1% chance of winning the first overall pick.  http://www.fantasydraftlottery.com was the site used to help generate our draft order using the percentages given.
